If you want to learn how Vermont Organic Maple Syrup and Raw Honey is made, this is the farm tour for you! Our tours have been rated as the highlight of their Vermont vacation for families staying at Smugglers' Notch or Stowe Mountain Resorts.
We love sharing everything about Golden Dog Farm. From the trees to the bees. From the vines to how we make wine. This two mile walking tour of Golden Dog Farm takes about two hours and includes some small hills and uneven terrain. One or both of our resident golden retrievers will join us when available. We do tours at 10:00am which can be booked here.
(If you prefer to do the tour in our six person golf cart, there is an additional $125 fee per tour. This is a popular option for groups that may have a member with mobility issues. Please indicate your desire to do this when you book your farm tour tickets and we will invoice you separately.)
The Bees and Maple Trees Farm Tour includes:
1) Learning how maple syrup is made, including a tour of our sugarbush and sugarhouse.
2) A visit to two of our apiaries. We have a Slovenian bee house (AZ house) and a traditional bee yard with Langstroth hives. You'll learn all about the fascinating world of bees and beekeeping
3) A visit to and an explanation of the history of some of the buildings here - the farm is home to 5 different buildings from the 1700's.
4) A walk in the vineyard, with an explanation of the different varieties and overview of what the winemaking process entails.
5) A visit to two of our orchards. We have apple, pear, plum, apricot, peach and cherry trees here.
6) A visit to the berry section of the farm. We have elderberries, high bush cranberries, blueberries and currants. We also have pine nuts and hazelnuts.
7) The tour ends with a Maple Syrup and Honey tasting.
The Bees and Maple Trees Farm Tour Does Not Include: The presence of the large group of Goldens from Butternut Goldens. Their Happy of Goldens are only here on Golden Dog Farm for the Golden Retriever Experience. Thank you for understanding!

We visited from Texas during the Fall and I had heard about this place from Instagram. It did not disappoint! We had two pups tag along and Doug and his crew were stellar! My family used the golf cart, which I really appreciated since not all my family could walk the whole tour. Overall a 10/10 experience.
Had an amazing time!
Fabulous tour! Even in the pouring rain! Learned so much all while getting to pets two beautiful pups!!
Our son recommended taking a walking tour of this maple syrup making, bee keeping, fruit growing, wine growing farm. Amazingly, it turned out to be even more. Starting with the owners who personally escorted our small group, who's story which is amazing. Followed by detailed descriptions and tour of the entire syrup making and bee to honey processes. We sampled fresh maple syrup, both light and dark. I preferred the light, my wife preferred the dark. We bought a bottle of the dark. Followed by a tour and history of the 100 plus years old structures which were preserved and moved to the property. Even the newer structure which houses the syrup production, built recently but using the old methods, all peg and beam, a truly amazing piece of work. They even made sure their branded clothing is only the top quality. We bought shirts and gifts for our whole family.
Make your appointment today for a walking tour with Doug, Rebecca and Mar of Golden Dog Farm. Don't hesitate. Its great! Six adults enjoyed a delightful afternoon ( even in intermittent rain) experiencing this magical property. We learned about the buildings, the birds, the bees and the maple syrup making process. We saw more fruit and nut trees and grape vines ever imagined in one place in Vermont. We picked blueberries ( they were in season) and they were delicious. And yes, the maple syrup and honey are extra good too. If you are looking for a fun activity that includes walking a gorgeous property with excellent tour guides and spectacular views-- schedule a tour at Golden Dog Farm and enjoy!
